All about Socks
This year, it's all about socks at A Good Yarn.
Firstly, we are running Sock Club, unlike some of the other clubs we run at A Good Yarn, there are no specific sessions planned. The reason we have chosen to call it a 'club' is that as a member you will be able to buy the exclusive kits at a reduced price of £20 instead £25. In order to qualify for this offer, you need to commit to purchasing all 6 kits released every other month throughout the year. Each kit will contain a pattern and the yarn to knit a pair of socks, and perhaps some other sock-related items. Either the yarn or the pattern in the kit will be exclusive to A Good Yarn, all kits are the same so you will need to be happy to accept our choices for you. Although the yarn in every kit will be the same, as some months it is hand-dyed yarn there may be variations between the hanks.
As I mentioned earlier, there are no specific sessions planned for Sock Club but as the first sock is 'toe-up', we have organised a mini workshop to teach the necessary skills. We have planned 3 x 2hr sessions on Thursday 1st March. The session is optional but if you want to reserve a place, it's £10 and there is a choice of 10am to 12pm, 2pm to 4pm or 6pm to 8pm. If you are able to make a daytime session it would be really helpful to keep the evening free for people who are at work in the day.
A couple of other things you may be interested in are 'Hard Sock Cafe'; this is on the 3rd Saturday month 10:30 am to 12:30pm and the last Wednesday of the month 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The cost is £5 per session and booking is essential as there are a maximum of 10 places per session, and we will be on hand to help with any sock knitting queries.
There is also a 3 part 'Learn to Knit Socks' workshop on 23/3, 11/4 & 28/4 7-9pm, the cost is £35 and includes all materials.
